Practical and interactive sessions. You don’t need to have access to the outdoors to be able to participate.

Although there will be a focus on trees, we’ll explore other aspects of the natural world too. Bring a willingness to try to get some words down about the world around you. There will be a chance to share your work if you want to and the group will be small to enable lots of participation.

El Rhodes is an archaeologist who lives in rural Worcestershire surrounded by thousands of trees. She writes a mixture of short fiction and creative non-fiction. In 2020 she was one of the winners of the Urban Tree Festival Flash Fiction competition.

Since then she’s won The Phare ‘Write Words’ Short Story prize and The Intrepid Times ‘Reunions’ Travel Writing award. She also writes a column for Spelt Magazine which celebrates and explores rural living in the 21st Century. Much of her work is rooted in a relationship with the natural world, both the glorious and the grim, and can be read in a range of anthologies and journals.
