Event Information
Kenton Rogers and Tony Kirkham, authors of the Haynes Owners' Workshop Manual for Trees, would like to offer an overview of their book and open themselves up to a Q&A session.
The Haynes Manual is a book for both professionals and private tree owners, and offers insights such as 'What is a tree?', 'Where to plant', 'What to plant', 'How to plant', 'How to prune', 'How to maintain' and 'Troubleshooting'. It is a beautifully presented book full of interesting photographs and illustrations. Kenton is also co-founder of Treeconomics, a social enterprise highlighting the benefits of trees, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Foresters.
Contributors
Kenton Rogers has worked on a wide range of commercial, urban and community forestry projects in the UK, Europe and North Africa. He was a Trustee of the International Tree Foundation for 10 years, and is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
Tony Kirkham Lancashire born Tony Kirkham moved to Surrey to become a forestry apprentice with Tilhill Forestry Nurseries aged 16. After a time spent working in Hamburg learning about tree management, he moved to Kew to study horticulture.
He is currently Kew's Head of Arboretum, Gardens and Horticultural Services where he and his team amongst many other things manage 14,000 trees and share their passion for trees with the visitors to Kew. He is the author of four books and ran the ‘Treeathlon’ to support the Trees for Cities campaign for more trees in urban areas in the UK, and says that “looking at trees anywhere in the world” is one of his hobbies.
Sharon Durdant-Hollamby is the President of the Institute of Chartered Foresters and Director of Sharon Hosegood Associates Ltd. Sharon Hosegood Associates is an innovative arboricultural consultancy providing advice on managing trees on development sites, in the wider landscape and within the community. Sharon is also creator of the well-known Tree Lady Talks podcast.

Treeconomics is a social enterprise which works internationally with community groups, research organisations, public bodies, municipalities and private business to complete projects which highlight the value of trees.
