Mass Tree Sketching

with Birmingham Urban Sketchers

The Birmingham Urban Sketchers invite anyone with a pen/pencil/paintbrush and paper to draw street trees with us during the festival as a way of promoting the value of our leafy friends. This event is in collaboration with the Birmingham Tree People as part of their remit to protect and promote our urban forests.

Over the festival week, 15-23 May, it would be great to see as many sketches of street trees as a way of showing just how much benefit they add to our urban environment.

We will then share them on via the Birmingham Tree People social channels. Please post your sketches on Instagram with the hashtag #urbantreesketches2021

For anyone based in Birmingham, check out our Facebook event page.

There are still social distancing restrictions so we can't arrange a large meet-up but if anyone has specific plans or wants someone to go out and sketch with as a group then please post in the chat. You can even sketch out of your window, if you have a view of a street tree.

Sketchers and tree warden Helen Roberts will also be posting some locations on the Facebook event page for those who want to sketch together.
